cooking

(ain't that bat a total fucking cutie)

COMING SOON

The plan here is to have friends and family pick their favorite recipe.

We cook it together while talking about the dish and any subsequent topics.

I record the audio from the cooking session.

Then animate it using Adobe Character Animator.

I've never animated anything before.

(the bat up there was the first test using Character Animator, which isn't really animation)

Nor do I do know much about audio recording.

So, a piece of cake.

Gonna be great.

Not gonna be overwhelming.

Fun times ahead.

The plan has been slightly altered.

(pray i don't alter it further)

Since hurricane Ian and everything that's followed I've decided to somewhat nix the friend aspect of this project and focus on Gma (my grandma).

Years ago, in the age of the floppy disc, my grandma gifted a handful of us a family cookbook for Christmas. She typed it all up in Word, hole-punched the pages, bought little binders and even made fabric covers for each of them (mine had cats). Even the included floppy disc had a piece of matching fabric on it.

I'd share pictures of my copy but I gifted it to my high school friend as a wedding present (although I'm 99% sure I kept the floppy, I just don't know where it is).  She was the first to get married after high school and I was poor af. It seemed like a nice sentimental gift and I got Gma's blessing.

Back on track! Gma and I are going to cook our way through her old cookbook (once we get moved and settled in) making edits where needed and I'll put it all together in in-design.

I figured I might as well record our cooking sessions and animate those. I'm not adverse took cooking with my friends, but not only does scheduling suck but this cookbook project will be good practice when it comes to animating and it will also be a very nice way to spend time with Gma while subsequently getting her a bit more active.
